Sit or Start for Week 4
September 29, 2023 (Updated Every Thursday)
Risks...
DEREK CARR vs Buccaneers
- He is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). Analyzing various factors very carefully, we do not expect him to post quality fantasy stats this week. HC Dennis Allen could not say for sure if Carr would be ruled out for Week 4 at Monday's presser, but it sounds as if things are trending in that direction. With that said, Carr has proven to be plenty tough over the years, so he could play if the issue is merely pain tolerance. Jameis Winston would get the nod if Carr cannot go.
Joshua Dobbs vs 49ers
- Facing a Dallas defense that had dominated the opposition through its first two games, Dobbs rarely seemed rattled as he led Arizona to three touchdowns and three field goals, including a two-yard TD toss to Marquise Brown in the fourth quarter that all but sealed the victory. Dobbs has looked good so far in his first extended stretch as a starting QB, but he faces a daunting task in Week 4 on the road against the 49ers.
Mac Jones vs Cowboys
- Jones found Pharaoh Brown behind the defense for a 58-yard touchdown to take a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. That was the only touchdown New England mustered, but it was enough to get the Patriots into the win column for the first time in 2023. After throwing for 316 yards with three touchdowns in the season opener, Jones has failed to throw for 250 yards or multiple touchdowns in either of the next two games, and reaching those thresholds won't be easy on the road against Dallas in Week 4. The Cowboys rank #3 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings, #2 in passing yards allowed and #1 in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs.
Anthony Richardson vs Rams
- First, Richardson is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). Second, Gardner Minshew just led the Colts to a big win on the road against the Ravens, and the coaches may be in no hurry to rush teh rookie QB back onto the field. Third, the Rams pass defense is pretty stingy through three games. The Rams rank #4 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings and #1 in passing TDs allowed.
Zach Wilson vs Chiefs
- Wilson has not impressed since becoming the starter, though the situation around him isn't perfect. However, with high expectations surrounding the Jets pre-season, the pressure is on Wilson is to no fault of his own. Saleh stands by Wilson for now, though the threat of locker room tension always remains.
Rewards...
Josh Allen vs Dolphins
- Allen ended up having a solid fantasy outing on Sunday despite not having to do much to overcome the three points that Washington scored on the day. He wasn't particularly impressive as a passer, but he was efficient on the ground despite his limited attempts. His dual-threat ability makes him a must-start option every week and he should continue to be an elite fantasy option at the position next week against the Dolphins.
Joe Burrow vs Titans
- Burrow was able to get through a calf injury and make the start Monday night, but is clearly hampered by the injury and will be until he recovers. The Bengals' did enough to hold off a potential Rams' comeback, but will need more points offensively to get wins as the season goes along. Fantasy managers will want to monitor Burrow heading into Week 4. If he is a full-go, then the match-up this week against Tennessee could be what fantasy owners have been waiting for. The Titans rank #28 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings.
KIRK COUSINS vs Panthers
- Cousins spread the ball around effectively, finding Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn, and Josh Oliver on touchdown passes in the loss Sunday. Cousins' interception came at the worst time though as he was intercepted in the end zone as they tried to win the game late in the fourth quarter. Cousins and the Vikings will look to bounce back against the Panthers in Week 4.
Justin Herbert vs Raiders
- Herbert may not get the same headlines others will tomorrow but this was about as good as it gets. Keenan Allen caught 18 of those passes on the day and this duo could be even more lethal should the injury to Mike Williams prove to be serious. Regardless, Herbert is a bona fide QB1 and a sleeper for MVP this season should these performances become even more consistent.
Sam Howell vs Eagles
- This was a mess by any measure as Howell was under siege from the first snap of the game. He's been otherwise fine on the young season but this was one of the single worst performances on the day by any player. Howell will look to bounce back next week as his ranking will surely stop its ascension. The Eagles have been surprisingly generous to opposing QBs in fantasy. The Eagles rank #31 in passing TDs allowed.
Patrick Mahomes vs Jets
- Mahomes stayed in the game after the injury, so there is no cause for concern. Look for Kansas City to take it easy on him during practice this week and be his usual QB1 self against the Jets in Week 4.
MATTHEW STAFFORD vs Colts
- Stafford did a good job of spreading the ball around Monday, targeting six different pass catchers. The veteran found WR Tutu Atwell on a one-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter as the team's comeback effort fell just short. Stafford will have to limit the interceptions in Week 4 against the Colts if the Rams are going to improve to 2-2. The Colts rank #31 against fantasy QBs.
Tua Tagovailoa vs Bills
- Tagovailoa was incredibly productive and efficient, tossing just three incompletions and allowing zero turnovers. He helped to lead 10 scoring drives in Miami's historic 50-point victory, though a lot of credit can also be given to the rushing game (350 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns). Tagovailoa is a strong QB1 option in fantasy football ahead of Week 4 versus Buffalo.
RUSSELL WILSON vs Bears
- While Denver's loss was absolutely brutal, Wilson looked solid for the second consecutive week. In fact, over his last two games, the veteran quarterback has 714 passing yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. He'll rank as a viable QB2 heading into Week 4 versus the Bears. The Bears rank #30 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings, #30 in passing TDs allowed, #30 in passing yards allowed, and #28 against fantasy QBs.
Risks...
Saquon Barkley vs Seahawks
- He is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). Shortly after being ruled inactive ahead of Thursday's eventual 30-12 loss to the 49ers, Barkley acknowledged that he's dealing with a right high-ankle sprain. The Giants are viewing Barkley as week-to-week, and while an injury of this sort often keeps players out for multiple games, the running back should at least benefit from New York having a quasi-bye week due to the lengthy turnaround between its matchup with the 49ers this past Thursday and the matchup with the Seahawks, which falls on a Monday. The Giants will hold their first official Week 4 practice this coming Thursday, and if Barkley is able to take the field in at least a limited fashion, it would bode well for his chances of being ready to play by next Monday.
Gus Edwards vs Browns
- Edwards was effective Sunday, tallying 4.6 yards per carry. Fantasy managers will want to monitor the veteran's status as he was taken into the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. In addition to injury concerns, he gets a tough match-up against the Browns who are #2 against opposing RBs.
Austin Ekeler vs Raiders
- He is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). With the Chargers on bye in Week 5, the team could elect to err on the side of caution with its top back versus Las Vegas in Week 4. As long as Ekeler is sidelined, Joshua Kelley is slated to lead Los Angeles' backfield, with Elijah Dotson and Isaiah Spiller also on hand to log complementary snaps.
Aaron Jones vs Lions
- Jones has been out for two-straight weeks while nursing a hamstring injury, and he was still estimated to be a limited participant on Monday. It seemed like he had a chance to play in Week 3, so maybe he will be able to suit up even with the short turnaround before Week 4. If he's active, he will be a must-start and will force AJ Dillon to revert to his backup role in this backfield.
Joe Mixon vs Titans
- Mixon averaged 3.4 yards per carry, but was able to salvage an average performance with a trip to the end zone. The Bengals will likely continue to rely on Mixon and the running game as long as Joe Burrow is hampered by a calf injury. Fantasy managers will probably have continue to trust Mixon heading into Week 4 -- but the ho-hum production is likely to continue. The Titans rank #4 in our Run Defense Power Rankings.
David Montgomery vs Packers
- Montgomery was listed as a limited participant for the Lions on their first practice report of the week. They have a short turnaround, playing against the Packers in just a few short days on Thursday night football. We'll see where he's at in the next couple of days, but if he's out again, fantasy managers can look for Jahmyr Gibbs and Craig Reynolds to continue to get most of the work in this backfield.
Dameon Pierce vs Steelers
- Pierce once again put up an ugly line efficiency-wise, but he did manage to salvage his fantasy day with a one-yard touchdown run that opened the scoring and served as his first trip to the end zone this season. Pierce's involvement as a receiver was also a welcome sight, and he's now logged three targets apiece in each of the first three games. Nevertheless, backfield mate Devin Singletary gained 10 more yards on five fewer carries than Pierce Sunday while also recording a pair of grabs in his own right, so the distribution of touches between the two will be one to monitor in a Week 4 home matchup against a tough Steelers defense.
Tony Pollard vs Patriots
- The running back had his most productive game of the season on the ground, but it was backup Rico Dowdle who scored the Cowboys' only TD of the day. Pollard's numbers were even more impressive considering he was working behind an offensive line missing three starters, including Zack Martin (ankle). Pollard faces a tough test in Week 4 against a Patriots defense that just held Breece Hall and the Jets to 38 total rushing yards. The defense ranks #1 in fantasy points allowed to fantasy RBs.
Rachaad White vs Saints
- White failed to reach the endzone and lost a fumble in the loss, making for an overall disappointing fantasy day. He's getting the volume we like to see for a feature back, but the production is not showing up. But unless they make a move or Sean Tucker improves, it's White's job for the time being. Regardless, the match-up is not great this week as the Saints' defense ranks #3 in fantasy points allowed to opposing RBs.
Rewards...
Jerome Ford vs Ravens
- Ford predictably struggled against the Titans' fierce run defense, but still produced for fantasy with the help of two scores. He isn't the back that Nick Chubb is, but he has shown flashes and should continue to hold the RB1 job in Cleveland for at least another week thanks to this performance. He's a locked-in RB2 thanks to volume with scoring upside.
Derrick Henry vs Bengals
- The Titans offense is getting close to hitting rock bottom and Henry is finding little room to run each week. While it isn't quite time to panic, Ryan Tannehill isn't scaring anyone and the Titans were only able to muster 130 yards of offense on the day. Henry remains a solid running back for a contending team but we're going to need to see more quickly before he starts tumbling down the rankings, especially at his age. This should be the week to get back on track against the Bengals. The Bengals rank #29 in our Run Defense Power Rankings and #31 in rushing yards allowed.
Khalil Herbert vs Broncos
- Herbert continued splitting backfield duties with Roschon Johnson (8-38-0), receiving nine combined touches to the latter's 10. Neither back stood out on the stat sheet, and it appears that Chicago will continue its backfield time-share for the foreseeable future. The reduced workload limits Herbert's fantasy potential ahead of next Sunday's matchup against the Broncos. Of course, we just saw what a two-headed rushing attack could do against the Broncos!
Christian McCaffrey vs Cardinals
- This season, the 27-year-old has compiled 353 rushing yards, three touchdowns on 60 carries, and 70 receiving yards on 11 receptions. His dual-threat ability continues to reward fantasy managers who took him in Round 1 of drafts. Looking ahead to Week 4, McCaffrey and the Niners host the Cardinals in a game that should offer plenty of opportunities for him to continue his dominance. He remains a set-and-forget running back.
Bijan Robinson vs Jaguars
- It remains to be seen which team will ultimately land Collins, but he's expected to have plenty of suitors given what feels like a constant need for offensive line reinforcements. The 30-year-old tore his ACL and MCL last season and was released from the Bengals' PUP list earlier this month.
Risks...
Treylon Burks vs Bengals
- The Titans couldn't get their offense moving at any point against the Browns, and Burks' stat line is an indication of their ineffectiveness. The only positive to take from the performance is that he finished one target shy of DeAndre Hopkins for the team lead. While Burks should continue to see opportunities moving forward, the Tennessee passing offense has been subpar through three weeks due to the play of both Ryan Tannehill and the offensive line, which could continue to hold back his production.
BRANDIN COOKS vs Patriots
- Four different Cowboys tied for the team lead with seven targets, but Cooks was the least productive of the bunch as he struggled to gain separation against a surprisingly stout Arizona secondary. The veteran wideout has had a very quiet start to his Dallas tenure, and it could be a while before Cooks begins to make a meaningful fantasy impact.
MIKE EVANS vs Saints
- Evans has caught a touchdown pass in every game this year. The streak isn't likely to continue, but Evans has scored touchdowns at a high rate throughout his career and it's looking like we can at least expect that to be a thing once again in 2023. He's a rock-solid WR2 for now with WR1 upside, but this week he should step back with Marshon Lattimore locked up against him.
Zay Flowers vs Browns
- The Browns rank #1 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings, #2 in receiving TDs allowed, #1 in receiving yards allowed, and #1 in fantasy points allowed to fantasy WRs.
Tee Higgins vs Titans
- Tee Higgins was shutout in week 1 and then bounced back with 2 TDs in week 2, but fell back off in week 3.
Drake London vs Jaguars
- Despite the Falcons throwing the ball more than usual on Sunday, London failed to have a good fantasy outing. He caught just two passes on the day and didn't look good against a weaker Lions defense. He's super volatile week-to-week and is a risky play moving forward.
Skyy Moore vs Jets
- Moore and the rest of the Chiefs starting offense were removed fairly early in the second half with the game well in hand. The former second-round pick saw his highest target total of the season, which is hopefully a sign of things to come for fantasy managers, but that's still not good enough to plug into your lineup.
Amon-Ra St. Brown vs Packers
- Last week St. Brown was questionable coming into the game because of a turf toe injury, but it clearly wasn't affecting him too much, as he went for over 100 yards against Atlanta's secondary. He's been great through three games this year and possibly carries top-five value at the position for the rest of the year if he stays fully healthy. That said, it may be tough for him to show out on a short week with the injured toe and against a Pakcers defense that has allowed the 6th fewest fantasy points to WRs.
Christian Watson vs Lions
- He is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). The Packers didn't actually practice on Monday, but they released a participation estimation that had Watson listed as a non-participant. He hasn't seen the field yet this year because of a lingering hamstring injury, and it appears that his status is not looking good for Thursday night. We'll know more in the next couple of days, but for now, fantasy managers should be prepared for him to miss another week and can expect Romeo Doubs and rookie Jayden Reed to both continue to get more work if he's out yet again.
Rewards...
DAVANTE ADAMS vs Chargers
- This guy is just flat out one of the best WRs ever. It does not matter who he has as his quarterback, Adams appears to always be open. Adams shredded the Steelers' secondary and accounted for more than half of Jimmy Garoppolo's passing yards. Fantasy managers will want to continue to leave Adams as a locked in starter heading into Week 4.
Tutu Atwell vs Colts
- Atwell led the team in targets Monday and is clearly the current WR2 in the Rams' offense and had a solid output in receiving. Atwell also tallied 22 rushing yards on one carry and a potential touchdown called back after it was ruled he stepped out of bounds. The 23-year-old speedster is a solid flex option heading into a matchup against the Colts in Week 4.
A.J. Brown vs Commanders
- Brown is back BABY! Too talented to be held down for long, Brown proved once again why he is one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. He's a locked in WR1 going forward. The Commanders rank #22 against fantasy WRs, so this guy is back in the the picture and should fare well this week. Last week was a nice bounce-back game for Brown, who suffered from a down game against a suspect Minnesota secondary in week 2.
Marquise Brown vs 49ers
- The fifth-year wideout led the Cardinals in catches and got into the end zone for the second straight game, hauling in a two-yard strike from Joshua Dobbs in the fourth quarter. Brown scored only three TDs in 12 games last season, so his early production is an encouraging sign that a breakout campaign could be on its way.
Ja'Marr Chase vs Titans
- Even with a slowed down and not quite right Burrow at QB, Chase broke out finally this season. He should perform well again this week as the Titans rank #28 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings and #29 against fantasy WRs. Chase's 12 receptions were a season-high and he was clearly the most trusted option as Joe Burrow attempted to play through a calf injury. If Burrow can continue to heal and improve, fantasy managers can expect Chase to continue to have a similar fantasy output. Chase and the Bengals will take on the Titans in Week 4.
Christian Kirk vs Falcons
- Kirk finished tied for second on Jacksonville in receptions while also finishing as the runner-up in receiving yards. He was on the receiving end of Trevor Lawrence's only touchdown toss, recording a 26-yard scoring grab early in the final period. Kirk didn't see any boost in volume despite the absence of Zay Jones (knee), but his first trip to the end zone this season made it two straight strong fantasy efforts following his 11-110 line in Week 2. Kirk will aim to keep the momentum going overseas in a Week 4 matchup against the Falcons in London.
DK Metcalf vs Giants
- The fifth-year wideout was Geno Smith's top option on the day, although undrafted rookie Jake Bobo caught the QB's only TD pass. Despite the fact that he nursed sore ribs in practice during the week, Metcalf topped 100 receiving yards in a game for the 10th time in his career in the regular season. He'll go for his 11th in Week 4 against a Giants defense that just surrendered a 6-129-1 line to the 49ers' Deebo Samuel.
Puka Nacua vs Colts
- Puka took a step back from his amazing first two weeks, but salvaged enough stats to avoid a complete week 3 flop.
Joshua Palmer vs Raiders
- Both Palmer and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston are expected to take on increased volume in the Chargers' passing game in Williams' absence, though Keenan Allen should continue to work as the top target for quarterback Justin Herbert. Through three games, Palmer has 13 targets -- exactly one third of Allen's total and half of Williams' -- while Johnston has been targeted only eight times.
George Pickens vs Texans
- Pickens continues to see a consistent target share and remains a top option the Steelers' passing attack. The former second-round pick has 238 yards and one touchdown on 13 receptions so far this season. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable starting Pickens against a banged up Houston secondary in Week 4.
Courtland Sutton vs Bears
- The Bears rank #30 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings. The Bears rank #30 in receiving TDs allowed. The Bears currently rank #30 in receiving yards allowed. Sutton led the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets on a day when Denver simply had no chance of keeping up with a juggernaut of a Dolphins offense. The veteran wideout's performance was one of the few positives for head coach Sean Payton's squad, although his two fumbles did lead to Miami touchdowns, albeit when the game was essentially out of reach. Sutton partly atoned with a 12-yard scoring grab and also set new season highs across the stat sheet. The 27-year-old has looked like a smooth fit in Payton's system thus far, and his fantasy prospects are bright going into a favorable Week 4 road matchup against the Bears.
Risks...
ZACH ERTZ vs 49ers
- Through two contests to begin the season, Ertz was pacing the Cardinals in targets with 18 on his way to 12 catches for 77 yards and no touchdowns. In Week 3, though, quarterback Josh Dobbs' focus was on his top two wide receivers Marquise Brown (seven targets) and Rondale Moore (six). There figures to be some ebb and flow from game to game among the team's skill-position players in terms of usage, and Ertz still led Arizona tight ends in snap share (59 percent) ahead of Geoff Swaim (52 percent) and Trey McBride (49 percent). Ertz may have a tough time getting back on track this coming Sunday on the road against the 49ers.
Jake Ferguson vs Patriots
- The Patriots rank #5 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings and #3 in fantasy points allowed to fantasy TEs.
Cole Kmet vs Broncos
- Notice a recurring theme here for the Bears passing game... Kmet and the Bears' offense struggled to move the ball at all through the air, tallying under 100 yards passing on the day. Kmet turned in a solid 2022 season, but appears to have taken a step back with the rest of the Bears' offense struggling so far.
Cade Otton vs Saints
- Otton was coming off a solid six-catch, 41-yard effort versus the vulnerable Bears defense, but he garnered much less of Baker Mayfield's attention in an appreciably tougher matchup. The second-year tight end does have at least one catch in each of the first three games, but he remains a clear complementary option in a passing attack that still figures to revolve around Mike Evans and Chris Godwin -- and feature plenty of short passes to running back Rachaad White -- on the overwhelming majority of weeks this season.
Rewards...
Mark Andrews vs Browns
- Start Andrews even though the Browns rank #1 in our Pass Defense Power Rankings, #2 in receiving TDs allowed, #1 in receiving yards allowed, and #1 in fantasy points allowed to fantasy TEs because there's not many TEs better.
Pat Freiermuth vs Texans
- Freiermuth connected with Kenny Pickett on a 13-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Much like the rest of the Steelers' offense this season, Freiermuth has struggled to get anything consistent going week-to-week. Fantasy managers will have to hope this is a step in the right direction as the Steelers head into Week 4.
Hunter Henry vs Cowboys
- Henry took a step back last week as he briefly exited the game in the second half due to an undisclosed injury but was able to return and he posted a disappointing output. After finding the end zone in each of New England's first two games, Henry saw fellow tight end Pharaoh Brown score the team's only touchdown in this game. Offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has a history of prominently featuring tight ends, and that has certainly been the case this season, though Henry faces competition for touches at the position from both Brown and Mike Gesicki. Henry's five targets tied wide receiver Kendrick Bourne for the team lead, and he should remain among the top targets for Mac Jones in Week 4 against Dallas.
TYLER HIGBEE vs Colts
- Higbee tied WR Puka Nacua for the team lead in receptions in Monday's loss. The 30-year-old has just 132 receiving yards on 11 receptions this season. Fantasy managers can likely find a better option heading into a Week 4 matchup against Indianapolis.
T.J. Hockenson vs Panthers
- Hock is the #1 TE in fantasy right now. The 26-year-old continues to produce for the Vikings, tallying 179 yards and two touchdowns and 23 receptions in three games. Fantasy managers can continue to trust Hockenson as a TE1 against the Panthers in Week 4.
TRAVIS KELCE vs Jets
- Kelce's growing fanbase can find him and the Chiefs taking on the Jets on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. So this swift TE (see what we did there?) should find the end zone again.
Sam LaPorta vs Packers
- LaPorta is the #3 fantasy TE right now after scoring his first career TD. That said, he has set a rookie TE record for the most catches at the TE position after 3 weeks. LaPorta is worth a TE play.
Donald Parham Jr. vs Raiders
- At this point, it's clear the 6-foot-8 tight end is one of quarterback Justin Herbert's favorite red-zone options, with four of Parham's seven targets so far in 2023 coming inside the 20-yard line, leading to three short TDs. Parham played 34 snaps compared to starter Gerald Everett's 38 on Sunday, but it would be more encouraging for his fantasy consistency if Parham were more involved in all facets of the offense. He's a good play in TD only leagues this week and maybe worth a flier for a fantasy owner who is desperate for TE production.
LOGAN THOMAS vs Eagles
- The oft-injured Logan Thomas could be a good play against an Eagles defense that has allowed the second most fantasy points to TEs as they also rank #31 in receiving TDs allowed. So, keep an eye on his status as he's is currently listed as Questionable on the injury report, and may wind up being a dreaded GTD (Game Time Decision). If he's indeed a go, he may be worth a sleeper TE play.
DARREN WALLER vs Seahawks
- Waller has been less than stellar this year as he hasn't found the end zone yet. However, due to the lack of great TE play, he's still a marginal fantasy TE1. He's worth giving a look this week as he's the Giants best healthy offensive weapon right now.
Risks...
Daniel Carlson vs Chargers
- Carlson might've left Sunday's tilt without attempting a single field goal if it weren't for Raiders coach Josh McDaniels electing to make it a five-point game with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Obviously, McDaniels is the butt of jokes as a result. Carlson has yet to miss a kick this season, but he's registered only 13 total points through the first three weeks and with the Raiders anemic offense, he's not a good bet.
BRANDON MCMANUS vs Falcons
- McManus ranks fairly low in terms of fantasy kicker scoring, so look for a better bet against a Falcons team that ranks 7th against fantasy kickers.
Chad Ryland vs Cowboys
- The Cowboys defense ranks #3 in fantasy points allowed to fantasy kickers, so Ryland isn't a great pick to click this week.
Joey Slye vs Eagles
- Slye was called upon to kick a late meaningless FG last week to ensure the Commanders didn't get shutout at home against the Bills. This week he will be tasked with kicking against an Eagles defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points to kickers.
Rewards...
Tyler Bass vs Dolphins
- Bass is averaging 12 PPG this year and has been an excellent fantasy play. Last week he didn't miss a kick and ended the day with 13 points, which gave him a very strong finish for fantasy purposes. He should continue to score a lot of points moving forward and will benefit from the team's potent offense.
Jake Elliott vs Commanders
- Elliott has been cash money this year and has an elite matchup against the Commanders who rank #29 against fantasy Kickers. While Elliott did miss one kick, a miss from 55 yards is hardly unforgivable, especially when Elliott converted a 61-yarder as time expired in the first half. The distance was impressive, though arguably more important for his fantasy value was the fact that he was again fairly busy. After only once attempting three or more field goals in a game last year, Elliott has done that in each of the first two weeks this season.
DUSTIN HOPKINS vs Ravens
- The Ravens currently rank #31 in field goals allowed and rank #30 against fantasy Kickers so this looks like a good bet this week. Hopkins was successful from 48 and 52 yards in the first half, helping the Browns build a 13-3 halftime lead. He's made both of his kicks from beyond the 50 this season and provided much-needed calm to the kicking game. Hopkins has converted seven of eight FGAs, with the lone miss coming from 43 yards last week.
Risks...
Arizona Cardinals vs 49ers
- The 49ers offense has given up the second fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses as they have done a great job in taking care of the ball.
Washington Commanders vs Eagles
- The Eagles offense struggled a bit last week against the Bucs, but still have allowed the 11th fewest fantasy points to defenses.
New York Giants vs Seahawks
- The Seahawks offense has allowed the 3rd fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses thanks to an offense that takes care of the ball and limits sacks. Sit the Giants against them this week.
Las Vegas Raiders vs Chargers
- The Chargers have allowed the 4th fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses, so a middling Raiders defense isn't a good bet this week.
Rewards...
San Francisco 49ers vs Cardinals
- The Cardinals are hanging in there on offense, but a 49ers defense is tough and physical and should fare well against them this week.
New Orleans Saints vs Buccaneers
- The Bucs offense reverted to the mean last week against the Eagles and the 8th ranked Saints fantasy defense should be solid this week against Baker and company.
Seattle Seahawks vs Giants
- The Giants offense has been awful aside from a breakout 2nd half against the Cardinals as they have given up the 2nd most fantasy points to defenses.
