Stock Up / Down |==================================================| * STOCK UP: QB Drew Brees (NO) Brees has had a real hot hand of late in that he has thrown for 781 yards the last two weeks with 7 TDs. You really need to continue riding him, especially this week against the Rams who rank 27th in fewest fantasy points allowed to QBs. In the final analysis, we expect him to post sensational fantasy stats once again this week. He's once again living up to the reasons that many owners drafted him as a top 3 or 4 fantasy QB. * STOCK UP: RB Priest Holmes (KC) Here's a blast from the past for you! Priest Holmes is back as the starter in KC with LJ out due to an injury. Now, this won't be the same Priest Holmes from a few years ago. He has a new head coach, will be without Al Saunders as the OC, has a weaker O-Line, is coming off a 2 year lay-off, and he is 34 years old now with a big question mark looming over him with that neck injury. This suggests that he may struggle with his comeback. However, he could have that one really nice game in front of his home crowd playing against a defense that gives up over 160 yards rushing a game ranking 32nd in the NFL. Don’t look for his typical 150 yard and 2-3 TD performance like the old Priest Holmes, but 80+ yards and a TD is entirely realistic. * STOCK DOWN: WR Steve Smith (CAR) Aside from weeks 1, 2, and 6 in which Smith racked up 25 catches, 407 yards, and 5 TDs, this has been an extremely tough season for him. In fact, the rest of the year (5 games), Smith has managed just 15 catches for 128 yards and 1 TD. His woes are due in large part to the QB play in Carolina. Despite what many people thought, David Carr’s lack of success in Houston wasn’t just because of his offensive line. He has been offensive, and the main victim of that has been Smith, who is one of the best playmakers at his position. His last 2 games he has a combined 5 catches for 33 yards - that is a bad one game total for a tight end! At this point, you have to put Smith on the bench until his QBs can figure out how to get him the ball. |==================================================| 7.
