Like last year, I went in looking for starters that I felt would be the most consistent performers from week to week. I also took great pains to minimize bye week issues, by having 5 WRs available to score each week.
In a couple of cases, this resulted in taking the 2nd or 3rd best player on the board as a tradeoff for having as many players as possible available week to week.
I am Most Proud Of:
Eric Moulds at 10.11. Disgruntled players coming off a trade have historically done fairly well in recent years, at least in the first year of their contract. Picking him up this late in the draft was a steal.
I am also optimistic about Marty Booker coming close to his old performance level with a legitimate QB tossing the rock.
Here's Who I Reached on:
Antonio Gates at 2.11. Others will call me crazy for saying this is a reach, but I have had significant success in past years playing the waiver wire like a fiddle for TE production. My RB depth is not the best beyond my two starters, a situation caused by this pick. If I had to do it all over again, I would seriously consider going with Dunn or Droughns instead.
My Overall Feeling About My Draft:
It's hard not to be happy with the core of my draft. I managed to snag my top rated RB, TE, and K, but at the expense of not having a true stud WR ala Boldin, Fitz, TO, etc., all of which were available had I gone in that direction at different points in the draft.
As usual, I took multiple risk/reward picks. IF Brees repeats his pre-injury performance...IF Chester Taylor can't tote the rock successfully in Minnesota...IF Booker gets more looks with Culpepper at the helm...IF Horn has one more good year left in him. I could just as easily win it all as I could tank. This is how I normally draft, so I'm comfortable with it.
Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Best
Draft?
Al Lackner has the most solid roster from top to bottom, with the possible exception of QB if Warner falters. Three stud RB, solid WRs, the #2 rated TE, top 3 kicker and a solid DT will make him a force to be reckoned with this season.
Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Worst
Draft?
Don Kowaelwski's draft is a like a train wreck...You know you shouldn't stare, but you just can't help yourself. NINE RBs were taken, peppered with names like JJ Arrington, Brian Calhoun, and Michael Robinson.
Other than Ward, his WR core is one giant question mark. Other than Palmer and Clark it is hard to know what he was thinking on draft night.
