My Draft Philosophy:

I generally go into a draft looking for value picks. I typically view RBs as the most valuable position in fantasy football. Fantasy Football success is directly relational to having a mix of quality RBs. After the top 10 RBs, the talent pool starts to wear thin and presents owners questions. Knowing that I was drafting 11 and 14, I only planned on landing 1 RB in the first two rounds and selecting either Manning or Steve Smith in the second. I honestly planned on at least 1 of the top 10 RBs falling to me, when that didn't happen I was torn between Williams and McGahee and punted. I took Manning, which then really made me shake up my plan. This is a move that many amature fantasy owners make, so I am kicking myself now. I don't recommend changing your plan on the first pick of your draft, but hey, why not fly by the seat of your pants once in a while. As Tom Cruise said in Risky Business, sometimes you just have to say: "What the heck?" Replace the word heck with a four letter word that begins in F.

At any rate, my first two rounds turned into the "Costanza" draft. I did the opposite of what I normally would do! Then my year's of fantasy football experience kicked in and I went into: "save my RB situation" mode. Tatum Bell should lead the Broncos in rushing yards (TDs are still a concern). I think Daynes will serve more in the Bettis role there in Denver, but with that said, even with Dayne's size, he is not the best short-yardage RB. I don't seriously think that Rhodes will win the starting job, so I plan on Addai seeing 2/3 - 3/4 of the carries in Indy. Martin slipped and fell last year, but remember that he turned in career highs in 2004. Hopefully he can get back up, even at his age! Then I had a plan to look for sleeper or underrated WRs to fill out that position.

I am Most Proud Of:

Do I have to answer this? Okay, at least I can boast of a top 3 QB (likely the #1 QB), a top 3 WR (likely the #1 WR), a top 3 TE, and a top 3 PK. I also have potential at RB with Bell, Addai, and M. Barber... although, I prefer proven commodities than potential.

Here's Who I Reached on:

This sounds silly, but I kind of reached on Manning a bit considering that I should have taken Carnell Williams and let Al draft McGahee and reach on another RB. I knew that Al was going to come away from the draft with 2 RBs with his 12th and 13th picks overall. Had I had my clear wits about me, I would have drafted Carnell Williams and hoped for Manning to fall to me in the 2nd round. I could always find a QB later in the draft that will score well if Manning falls through. However, I see Manning tossing approximately 36-30 TDs this year. Hopefully quite a few to Addai!

My Overall Feeling About My Draft:

Bell and Addai were also slight reaches, but I love their upside. If they can wrestle the starting job away and garner 3/4 of the carries in their offense, I am set at RB. I do feel that Martin is a serviceable #3 RB and that Barber could make his way into a starting role in Big D. If not, well, better luck next year Paul! (NOTE: I always wanted to pull a Ricky Henderson and refer to myself in the third person). At least it's a best ball league so I won't have to throw darts at a dartboard when trying to set my starting lineup at RB.

Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Best Draft?

Mark Cacko is looking mighty nice with the two Larry's: Johnson and Fitzgerald. Marvin Harrison should give him an outstanding combo at WR. He has enough RBs to fill in the #2 RB job. His only real concern is whether or not Bledsoe and Kitna fall flat on their face. I don't see THAT happening, so he should be in the mix for another strong run at this league's title. Al Lackner's and Eric Tomei's teams could also sneak up on some people as well.

Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Worst Draft?

All whining aside about taking Manning, I might not be that terrible. However, I do deserve to be in the argument for weakest draft. Don also belongs in the argument. Although, with that said, he should be very good at QB with Palmer and Favre and his RB situation should be covered by numbers. His WR situation is a bit shaky and he drafted way too many rookie RBs. This isn't the Big Ten rookie RB fantasy football league Don!
