Everyone says "value". They say "take the best player available at the time based on your value-based rankings." I've done that and haven't won. So I guess you could say my philosophy was draft running backs. Good, bad, or ugly. I've got starters, 2nd stringers, and long-shots, but I think it will serve me well as the season gets into November and December.
As far as the other writers beating me up for not drafting a kicker... I submit the names Jay Feely and Neil Rackers to you. Neither held much fantasy football value entering last year. Yeah, I'll drop someone that I drafted to pick up a kicker before week 1, but why bother drafting one when I get two free agent picks before the season starts.
I am Most Proud Of:
Somehow I got Brett Favre and Carson Palmer. It shouldn't happen, but it did. I truly believe Favre will get his INTs under control and Carson will shake off the rust by mid-season and put up big numbers for me. In a best ball format my QB scoring should be outstanding week in and week out.
Here's Who I Reached on:
Priest Holmes. Yes, Larry Johnson has replaced Holmes. Yes, he may never play football again. But what if? What if he gets cleared and returns and they trade Holmes and he finds himself on the field by mid-season? Until I see his press conference and he says he's retiring, I'm gonna keep him on my roster. Ya just never know.
My Overall Feeling About My Draft:
I'm loaded with potential at running back. I'm going to have to get lucky with my WRs. I will get good numbers outta my QBs. This is the first time I've ever loaded up on so many RBs. If 3 or 4 of my RBs pan out, I think I'm set up to win some games.
Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Best
Draft?
Duane Bryant. With Dillon, A Green, and Portis to rotate each week, combined with Moss and Culpepper at his other skilled positions, I think his team is poised to score points like Flozelle Adams eats donuts ...like ...alot. Maybe I'm holdin' onto their 2004 #s a little too much, but I think this team should be right in the thick of things at the end of the season.
Which Owner (Other Than Yourself) Had The Worst
Draft?
Mike Butler. I can't be the only one who thinks his team needs an awful lot of luck and would be a complete surprise to win many games. His QBs are mostly question marks and his RBs share time with other backs. Without at least one, solid, stud back (the Rams will find someone to compete with Jackson), I don't see him winning many games.
