Favre: "Highly unlikely" ...

It didn't take long for this to start again, Welcome to another 8 months of will he or won't he play.

Favre: "Highly unlikely" he would play again
Brett Favre - QB - MIN - Jan. 25 - 8:52 a.m. ET
Brett Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that it's "highly unlikely" he'll play again.
We all know this doesn't mean that much, especially hours after a brutal NFC Championship Game loss in which he took numerous big hits. Favre put together the best statistical season of his career in 2009 and the Vikings will remain largely intact next year. He'll almost certainly get the itch to play again at some point down the line.

Just seeing the look of impending doom on his wife's face, I'd tend to agree this time. That was a brutal butt whuppin.

Favre is 3 TDs shy of 500, 671 yards shy of 70,000, 1 playoff TD shy of Montana, and has 13 million dollars waiting for him after training camp when he decides to un-un-un-un-unretire. The Vikings are going to remain an elite team in 2010, and Peyton is breathing down his neck in the record book.

He wouldn't know what to do with himself without the media feeding his massive ego, I say he stays 1 more year. Then 7 more months of the "will he, won't he" after, assuming his season isn't a trainwreck.

I hope youre right. Ive softened my stance on Farf, and would like to see him come back, provided he can still produce like he did this year. They were so close, it's tough to say one way or the other. To his credit, the beating he took wasnt head related, so it's nothing major that would keep him from playing. If he plays next year, it's over. I just hope he can fend his wife off for one more offseason, and I hope he commits early. If anything, to reciprocate the respect that the Vikes have shown upon him.

I say he comes back. I don't think it's the money. I think it's the records. Namely, the consecutive starts. I don't see anyone ever beating that and I don't see him retiring as long as a teams continues to let him start.

As much as he pissed me off the last few years years with his indecisiveness, and as much as that tarnished his legacy, the way he played this season shut us all up.

I personally want to see him come back. Preferably without the soap opera that goes along with it.

Yup, one more year. After all, he wouldn't want to share the limelight with Warner when he retires this year... (though it would be cool to see a Warner/Favre HOF induction in a few)
