Time to Break the Cardinal Rule
Ronald R. Aniel II
Ronald R. Aniel II
Fantasy Football Writer

I’ve stated for years that the surest way to lose your fantasy is to break the “Cardinal Rule”. The rule quite simple is “NEVER HAVE AN ARIZONA CARDINAL ON YOUR FANTASY ROSTER!” It’s finally time to break the Cardinal Rule. If you want to win your fantasy league this year then you better consider getting Kurt Warner on your roster. He can win you the championship.

I’m not saying he’s going to be Peyton Manning. I’m not even saying he’s going to be as good as Culpepper or McNabb. But given traditional fantasy wisdom it’s not always smart to draft a quarterback early in the draft. Quality running backs and the top five or so receivers should be your focus early in your draft.

The reason Kurt Warner will win you the championship is because of how under valued he is going into this year’s fantasy drafts. At the time this article was writing, AskTheCommish.com has Kurt Warner rated as the 22nd best quarterback and a project 11th round pick. I also went to another publication to see where Warner was ranked, Lindy’s Fantasy Football Magazine ranked him 25th.  Many other fantasy sites rank Warner lower than The Commish.

Wait, but don’t wait too long, to get Warner on your roster. You should consider grabbing him after you’ve secured your starting running backs, receivers, a more running backs for your roster, and possibly even another quarterback to smoke screen the fact you’ll be grabbing Warner. I’m even going to be bold and say Warner will be in the top eight fantasy quarterbacks at year’s end. That means you’ll getting a quarterback ranked approximately three times lower than where he’ll finish.

Arizona’s Coach Dennis Green has a history of turning around old timers, and Warner’s only 34. That’s not quite old enough to be considered an old timer just yet. Under Green, Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, and Jeff George put up some of their best numbers. The Cardinals also have some talented receivers. It doesn’t take one long to remember the MVP numbers Warner put up with the Rams: 98 touchdowns in 43 starts. Make sure you grab Warner, you won’t regret it. He’s the type of potential bargain that wins championships.

NOTE:  Even players like RB J.J. Arrington, WR Larry Fitzgerald, and WR Anquan Boldin could be starters on fantasy teams this year.
