Here's some info about the men that formed the core of the Ask The Commish.com:
Paul Baitinger Bryan Hughes Al Lackner

About Paul Baitinger
Background

Paul Baitinger
Site Co-Founder
Paul's not only one of the Presidents, but he's also a client.  Okay, he's heard that one a thousand times in reference to his hair (or lack thereof), but he still doesn't belong to the Hair Club For Men.  Seriously though, he is one of the three Ask The Commish.com founding fathers and Co-Owners.

Paul is kept busy updating the Player Rankings, the Draft Kit, answering emails, and coordinating efforts on the Sit or Start page.  He's also the NFL Draft guru among other things (some of his friends call him Mel Kiper Jr. Jr.).

Paul has been instrumental in helping the Commish take the crown in numerous Expert fantasy leagues.  In 2004 Paul lead the Ask The Commish.com team to the Fantasy Football Index (TD-only) league title.  Of course, having drafted Shaun Alexander as his top RB, Peyton Manning (inexplicably late in the 2nd round), and Tiki Barber in the middle rounds helped quite a bit.  Paul has also taken home the title of the Ask The Commish.com Experts' Picks Champion in 5 out of 6 seasons.

In 2005 Paul had a weekly segment during the Miller in the Morning show on Wednesdays at 8:40 am (Eastern) on WWCN, ESPN Sports Radio 770 (Ft. Myers / Naples, FL).  He has also appeared on the Jersey Johnny show on WIBC - AM 1070 (Indianapolis) discussing the NFL Draft and has also appeared on the Bob Haynie show on WNST - AM 1570 (Baltimore) answering questions about Fantasy Football, the NFL Draft, and the NFL Salary cap.

Paul Baitinger's Bio:

I am happy to be in my 17th season as a fantasy football owner and my 15th season as a Commissioner.  When I started as a fantasy football league Commissioner, I was such a fantasy football junkie that my roommates nicknamed me "The Commish". A few years later, people improperly figured that my "Commish" nickname was because of my likeness to the TV star, Michael Chiklis from the cop show "The Commish", that started in 1992 (NOTE: he is now the star of "The Shield" on FX). However, I EARNED my "Commish" nickname back then because of my football acumen.  Now I'm part the "Commish" team here at Ask The Commish.com - how fitting!

If you look up football fanatic in Webster's Dictionary, you'll see a picture of me. I'm probably even watching the NFL Network in the picture. I happen to be that guy that knows how to spell just about every player's name without having to look it up. Yes, even Houshmandzadeh! I'm also considered to be a walking database of football depth charts. Back in 1999 I was finally fed up with all of the outdated fantasy football magazines come draft time, so I decided to partner up with a few fellow fantasy football enthusiasts to start our own fantasy football web site. The only problem was that we didn't have a name for our site... That's when I turned to the "real Commish" in my house (my wife, who is the boss at home, despite being a football widow), for advice. We ran some of the names past her and she liked Ask The Commish.com the most.  In the end, we all agreed on Ask The Commish.com.

Favorite Current Player: Brett Favre
Favre is one of the best and toughest QBs of all time.  For my money, he's still one of the best players in the game! However, Peyton Manning is a lot of fun to watch as well.

Favorite Retired Player: Chris Spielman/Barry Sanders
Spielman was a throwback player that was a joy to watch.  All Madden... heck they should have an all Spielman team.  Simply put, Barry Sanders was the most elusive and electrifying player that I've ever seen.

About Al Lackner
Background

Al Lackner
Site Co-Founder

Al Lackner is another of the Ask The Commish.com founding fathers and Co-Owners.  He's our boxing buff, country music guru, Elvis fanatic, and old western movie buff.  He can quote any line that Shakespeare has ever written or John Wayne has ever uttered on screen.  In addition to his fantasy football duties, Al is our resident expert on the salary cap. Any question that you have on the cap, he can answer. Scary, but true.

Al is also our statistical analysis guru given his Mathematics degree.  What does Math have to do with anything, let alone fantasy football?  Well, just ask Al and he'll provide you with enough knowledge for you to get a Doctorate in Math.  The weekly Best Bets for Premium Members, Automated Lineup Recommendations, the Computer Generated Mock Draft, and the Power Rankings are among his brain child ideas.

In addition to being one of our Senior Editors, Al is a hard-hitting journalist that is not afraid to ask the tough questions.  He has been interviewed and cited in numerous studies regarding Free Agency and the NFL Salary Cap.  Al has appeared on the Bob Haynie show on WNST - AM 1570, on The Jock with Tony Lombardi (Baltimore's WJFK - AM 1300), and on 95.9 WGRQ answering questions about the NFL Salary cap, NFL Free Agency, and football in general.  In fact, Al even has a weekly segment during the Redskins Roundtable at 7:40 pm EST on Mondays on 95.9 WGRQ (Fredericksburg, VA).

Call me the long-winded one of the bunch! If you've read an article on the site that is loaded with prose, chances are it was written from this country boy's pen -- er, keyboard. In addition to hoping to build a website that would improve upon the laughable material that was currently out there on the web, I joined Bryan Hughes and Paul Baitinger in 1999 to form Ask The Commish.com with hopes of creating something that would be a true On Line Publication.

My vision for the site has been to emphasize that there is more to fantasy football than to simply measure stats and report on trends. I hope that the site reflects at least a small portion of my true love of the GAME of football itself, as I spend countless hours working on the "Team Analysis" pages. I am a big proponent of such non-fantasy topics as the Great Players of the Past. In addition to responding to your emails, crunching numbers, and providing the usual weekly articles (Statistical Number Crunching and Power Rankings, etc.), I am the resident Capologist. I am proud of the fact that our site is the best site out there that explains the NFL Salary Cap to the casual fan as well as the fanatic and provides an intensive FAQ on the matter. As our staff of writers continues to grow, hopefully the quantity and quality of content we provide will also grow!

Favorite Current Player::
It's a toss up between Manning, any Buffalo Bills player, and Brett Favre.  Since Paul took Favre, and since listing reasons for 53 Buffalo players will take too long, I'll go with Peyton.  He is the best fundamental QB!  He calls his own plays from time to time and takes control of the offense.  He's a true field general and provides the best play-action fake of anyone not named Norman Julius "Boomer" Esiason.

Favorite Retired Player: Jim Kelly/Joe Namath
Joe Willie Namath was a hero of my child hood.  Kelly is my modern day hero, a Namath with knees, if you will.  They were both cocky and both backed it up on the field.  Too bad these two #12 never played each other.
