| 2004 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 2 and 3 |
| April 23, 2004 |
|
|
Round Two |
| |
| 33 | Texans (5-11), Player: RB Tony Hollings (Supplemental Pick) | Supplemental Pick From Oakland
|
| | | | 33 | Cardinals (4-12), Player: DT Donnell Washington* (Clemson) | Needs: QB, DT, DE, RB, WR The Cardinals need to stop the run in order to gain respectability and win close ball games. Washington has tremendous upside and could help them stop the run and solidify their DT position. |
| | | | 34 | Chargers (4-12), Player: WR Michael Clayton* (LSU) | Needs: OL, DL, LB, WR, QB - Projected trade from NYG The Chargers are in desperate need for help along their offensive line. Rogers was a big reason why Carson Palmer won the Heisman in 2002 and helped USC win a National Championship in 2003. He should be able to help in the NFL immediately. |
| | | | 35 | Chargers (4-12), Player: OT Jacob Rogers (USC) | Needs: WR, OL, DL, QB, LB The Chargers are in desperate need for help along their offensive line. Rogers was a big reason why Carson Palmer won the Heisman in 2002 and helped USC win a National Championship in 2003. He should be able to help in the NFL immediately. |
| | | | 36 | Lions (5-11), Player: RB Chris Perry (Michigan) | Needs: RB, LB, OG, TE, WR Chris Perry would surely be worth a look here to add to the RB rotation. Detroit seems satisfied enough with Pinner that they might wait for a RB until round 3. With Perry being a solid all around back he could help figure into the RB by committee in Detroit. A LB like Boulware or Dansby or an OG like Smiley might also be on their radar. |
| | | | 37 | Raiders (4-12), Player: WR Michael Jenkins* (Ohio State) | Needs: OL, QB, RB, WR, S - Projected trade from CLE The Raiders would be happy to land Michael Jenkins who is big and fast as a consolation prize in the second round. Jenkins has the potential to develop into a nice threat opposite Porter for years to come. |
| | | | 38 | Falcons (5-11), Player: S Sean Jones* (Georgia) | Needs: DE, CB, WR, OL, DT The Falcons could continue to address their needs in their secondary. While some question whether or not Jones is good value here, he is clearly the #2 safety on most team's draft boards and can help the Falcons immediately. |
| | | | 39 | Jaguars (5-11), Player: LB Michael Boulware (Florida State) | Needs: CB, WR, DE, LB, OL With Fernando Bryant departing via free agency, the Jags need some help at CB, but they could also use help at LB. Del Rio coached Peter Boulware in Baltimore and might be inclined to grab a LB with Michael's speed to form a speedy LB unit. |
| | | | 40 | Texans (5-11), Player: CB Ricardo Colclough (Tusculum) | Needs: DT, S, CB, OL, LB Dansby could be a nice addition to the Texans 3-4 defensive scheme, but the Texans are really looking for help in the secondary. Colclough provides good speed and playmaking and can be brought along slowly at CB while returning kicks. |
| | | | 41 | Broncos (10-6), Player: LB Karlos Dansby (Auburn) | From Washington - Needs: WR, DL, LB, TE, RB, CB It wouldn't surprise me to see the Broncos draft a LB here and Dansby could be a nice addition to this remade defense. Dansby offers the ability to rush the passer and drop into coverage. |
| | | | 42 | Titans (12-4), Player: DE Antwan Odom* (Alabama) | From NYJ - Needs: DE, DT, OL, LB, TE Odom is a solid edge pass rusher that looks like he could figure for 8-10 sacks a year in the NFL. The Titans need help along the DL to replace the departed Robaire Smith and Jevon Kearse. Odom would fit in nicely with their DE rotation. |
| | | | 43 | Bills (6-10), Player: TE Ben Watson (Georgia) | Needs: WR, QB, OL, TE, FS Buffalo would be interested in finding help at QB, CB or OL here. Losman appears to be too talented to pass on, but Watson could become Bledsoe's Ben Coates and this coaching staff should figure out a way to make this TE productive. |
| | | | 44 | Steelers (6-10), Player: CB Shawntae Spencer* (Pittsburgh) | Needs: CB, OT, QB, DL, DB The Steelers really need help in their secondary and Spencer is a player that could even sneak into the first round. This is the fastest rising player on the board and he offers great size. He certainly has the skills to help fill a need at CB in the Pittsburgh secondary. |
| | | | 45 | Raiders (4-12), Player: QB JP Losman (Tulane) | From Tampa Bay - Needs: OL, QB, RB, WR, S
The Raiders could really use some help at RB to replace Garner, but Losman is athletic and talented enough to potentially become Gannon's replacement at QB. He should fit in well with the Raiders. |
| | | | 46 | 49ers (7-9), Player: DT Chad Lavalais (LSU) | Needs: WR, QB, TE, DL, CB The 49ers' could use some more help along the DL since Bryant Young is getting long in the tooth, but they'll really need some help on offense. Lavalais is extremely talented and could help the 49ers defense stop the run. |
| | | | 47 | Bears (7-9), Player: LB Ted Lehman (Oklahoma) | Needs: DT, LB, DE, DB, QB The Bears could stand to surround Urlacher with a little more talent and are really in the market for help at OLB. Lehman was solid for the Sooners and could step in and start at OLB from game 1. |
| | | | 48 | Saints (8-8), Player: DT Terry "Tank" Johnson (Washington) | Needs: LB, CB, DT, OL, DE Johnson could give the Saints' sorry defense a lift and rotate at DT. His ability to push the pocket back should make him a good addition to any team that drafts him. |
| | | | 49 | Bengals (8-8), Player: OC Jake Grove (Virginia Tech) | Needs: DE, DT, DB, RB, OL Jake Grove is a nasty lineman and could help keep Palmer upright and open lanes for Rudi Johnson. |
| | | | 50 | Vikings (9-7), Player: DE Marquise Hill* (LSU) | Needs: DE, DT, LB, CB, S Hill is not really the speed rusher that the Vikings covet, but he is big with some upside potential and he should hold up well against the run. |
| | | | 51 | Ravens (10-6), Player: WR Keary Colbert (USC) | Needs: WR, CB, OL, DT, LB The Ravens need to find more weapons to help at WR and Colbert has the skills to step in and help. Many compare him with Keenan McCardell. |
| | | | 52 | Cowboys (10-6), Player: OG Justin Smiley* (Alabama) | Needs: RB, DT, OL, CB, LB Smiley has the skill to step into a starting position along an OL right away. He could help the Cowboys' running game get on track. |
| | | | 53 | Seahawks (10-6), Player: LB Daryl Smith (Georgia Tech) | Needs: DT, MLB, OLB, WR, DE The Seahawks have an aging set of LBs and need to fill the void in the middle of their unit. Smith might be a bit of a reach here, but he can fit right into a need. |
| | | | 54 | Broncos (10-6), Player: DB Matt Ware* (UCLA) | Needs: WR, DL, LB, TE, RB, DB The Broncos would do well to upgrade their secondary and Ware could be a very nice fit at Free Safety or possibly play corner. He may not last this long in the draft. |
| | | | 55 | Packers (10-6), Player: DE Tony Hargrove* (Georgia Tech) | Needs: DE, QB, LB, DT, CB Hargrove's workout numbers were very impressive and on par with Will Smith's. He is becoming a fast riser and the Packers could really use him in their DE rotation. |
| | | | 56 | Bengals (8-8), Player: RB Greg Jones (Florida State) | From NE - Needs: DE, DT, DB, RB, OL Jones is a big back that could share the load with Rudi Johnson and keep the Bengals ground game moving. |
| | | | 57 | Titans (12-4), Player: DT Isaac Sopoaga (Hawaii) | Needs: DE, DT, OL, LB, TE Sopoaga is big and strong (42 reps at the combine) and could factor into the Titans' DT rotation right away. He was a beast in rushing the passer from the DT position in Junior College as well. |
| | | | 58 | Eagles (12-4), Player: CB Joey Thomas (Montana State) | Needs: CB, DT, OL, LB, RB Joey Thomas is a tall CB that the Eagles can bring along. They would hope that he could eventually fill the role of tall bump and run cover man Bobby Taylor. |
| | | | 59 | Colts (12-4), Player: LB Dontarrious Thomas (Auburn) | Needs: CB, DT, LB, DE, OL The Colts really need to find someone to stop the run at DT, but Thomas can help their depleted LB unit. He might be an upgrade over Morris in the middle or help replace Washington at OLB. |
| | | | 60 | Saints (8-8), Player: CB Keith Smith (McNeese State) | From St. Louis - Needs: LB, CB, DT, OL, DE The Saints could use more help at CB and Smith could provide them some solid upside. Smith is a taller corner from a small school that is expected to eventually grow into a starting role. |
| | | | 61 | Chiefs (13-3), Player: CB Nathan Vasher (Texas) | Needs: CB, DL, OT, LB, WR While not offering great size, Vasher offers good playmaking abilities. He could help the Chiefs secondary not get quite so torched this year.
|
| | | | 62 | Panthers (11-5), Player: WR Devery Henderson (LSU) | Needs: CB, OT, OG, TE, WR The Panthers really need to find help at FS or OL after they were devastated by free agency. Henderson could step in and help as a 3rd WR and provide some insurance at WR. |
| | | | 63 | Patriots (14-2), Player: OG Chris Snee* (Boston College) | Needs: RB, WR, OL, LB, DB
With Woody leaving via free agency Snee, this former BC Eagle, could step in and help replace the void. |
